Mit Prinz Turki AlFaisal, Bundestagsvizepräsident Omid Nouripour

How can the German academic landscape support and (re-)integrate refugee students and researchers into the scientific community? What are the key roadblocks and resources needed?
And what can be done to not only facilitate education and research, but to create valuable academic networks and collaborations?
To these questions we would like to dedicate our 12th Arab-German “Jour Fixe” in Berlin. In collaboration with the Arab-German Young Academy for Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) and the Freie Universität Berlin, we therefore kindly invite you to the 12th edition of our
Arab-German “Jour Fixe”
for students and young academics
under the title
Partners in Science
–
Opportunities and Challenges for Refugee Students and Scholars in Germany
with
Dr. Florian Kohstall
Project Director of “Adopt an Academic” & Coordinator of “Welcome@FUBerlin”
and
Ilyas Saliba
Political Science Researcher and “Adopt an Academic” Mentor
This edition‘s topic will revolve around the challenges and opportunities for refugee students and researchers living in Germany. We are happy to welcome Dr. Florian Kohstall, initiator and coordinator of the programs „Adopt an Academic“ and „Welcome@FUBerlin“, as well as participants of these programs to share their experiences. „Welcome@FUBerlin“ helps refugee students to continue their studies while „Adopt an Academic“ connects German researchers with refugee scholars within a peer-to-peer mentoring program to facilitate reintegration into the international scientific community. Dr. Kohstall will be joined by various members of both initiatives.
As a regular platform our Jour Fixe is open to English-speaking students and young professionals of all disciplines interested in the exchange between Germany and the Arab world. It supports exchange between young academics and aims at establishing a sustainable network. The meeting usually takes place in Berlin.
The event language is English.
We are looking forward to your participation and kindly ask you to register until 29 June 2017 via the button below or via e-mail with Jonas Reiche, Project Coordinator (jonas.reiche@dafg.eu). A registration confirmation will not be sent.
