The Humanitarian Situation in Palestine – Perspectives from the Palestinian Red Crescent

Tuesday, 13 October 2026, 18:00 hrs.
DAFG e.V., Wallstr. 61, 10179 Berlin

We cordially invite you to a moderated discussion

The Humanitarian Situation in Palestine – Perspectives from the Palestinian Red Crescent
with
Dr. Younis Al Khatib
President, Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS)

The humanitarian situation in Palestine has deteriorated significantly over decades and, particularly, over the past three years of escalating conflict. In Gaza, hostilities and violence continue despite the current ceasefire, while destruction, displacement and severe pressure on health and essential services have created unprecedented humanitarian needs. In the West Bank, violence, displacement, restrictions on movement and growing humanitarian needs are placing increasing pressure on communities and humanitarian organisations.

As President of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Dr. Younis Al Khatib has a direct perspective on these developments and on the challenges facing Palestinian communities and humanitarian organisations.

The event is jointly organised by the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG) and the German Red Cross (GRC).

Language: ENGLISH

Dr. Younis Al Khatib has served as President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society since 2000. A member of the organisation since 1982, he has held numerous leadership positions, including Director of Palestine Hospital in Cairo and Director-General of the PRCS. From 2017 to 2022, he served on the Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). He is also active in advancing healthcare and education in Palestine and holds degrees in management, public health and business administration.

We look forward to welcoming you. Since availability is limited, we kindly ask you to register by 12 October 2026, via email to dafg@dafg.eu.
